A Real-time and Parallel System for the Simulation of Virtual Humans

ESPRIT project completed in May 1995

Objectives

The main objective of the project was to take advantage of the new hardware and knowledge on human modelling in order to design and implement a real-time and parallel system for the simulation of virtual humans in their environment.

Summary of the project

The HUMANOID software offers very attractive and unique functionalities:

• interactive human modelling
• integrated motion control of the human body (see TRACK)
• facial animation and lip synchronization
• deformations of the body while in motion
• object grasping
• walking
